Hi! I’m Marisa.

I’m a reader, writer, artist, and art lover. I live in the Pacific Northwest, where it’s rainy and easy to spend an entire day inside with a good book.

I started writing again when my son entered elementary school and I suddenly found I had more headspace for creativity. The habit became a practice, and grew into a regular routine at lunch breaks, on soccer practice sidelines, and late nights in bed. My second novel is already underway and it’s been a joy to work hard on something that is just my own.

In my free time, I can be found dragging the people I love to museums, caring for our family’s gaggle of geriatric animals, eating copious amounts of pasta, and writing cozy place-based stories that make readers smile when life feels hard.

I am a two-time graduate of Western Washington University, where I studied art history, journalism, and education. I have worked for multiple newspapers, including a stint at The Seattle Times, and written for art and lifestyle magazines, like City Arts.

For the last 15 years, I’ve enjoyed working in marketing and communications.
